Elizabeth J. Walters is a Shareholder in Burke Blue’s Panama City Beach office. Ms. Walters represents clients in all areas of real estate development, land acquisition and entitlement process, financing, construction, real estate development, project operations and loan restructuring. She also represents clients in the areas of Real Estate, Condominium Law, Land Use, Governmental, Banking, Business and Commercial Law.
Ms. Walters has focused her practice in the areas of resort and master planned community development and condominiums. She has extensive experience representing developers, builders and resort owners throughout Northwest Florida. Her involvement with clients and projects span in planning from conception to completion, the development and ongoing operation of master planned residential communities, condominium developments and mixed-use communities, ranging from single family homes to high-end resort developments with all inclusive on-site amenities. Her knowledge and experience positions her for advising developer and lender clients in connection with state and local litigation matters relating to real estate disputes and non-performing assets.
Ms. Walters currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bay Defense Alliance, Bay Education Foundation, Bay County Economic Development Alliance, Florida State University-Panama City Development Board, Panama City Port Authority, SunTrust Bank Panama City, and is a member of the United States Air Force AETC Commander’s Civic Leaders Group.
Ms. Walters’ community and civic endeavors have included serving as the Immediate Past Chairperson of the Bay County Economic Development Alliance, Chairperson of the Alliance’s Enterprise Bay and Chair of the Alliance’s Defense Contractors Roundtable, serving as an officer on the Board of Directors of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce, Chairperson of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, Chairperson of the Bay, Gulf, Franklin and Calhoun Counties School Readiness Coalition, and Chairperson of the Bay Education Foundation. Ms. Walters also served as a member of the Gear Up Bay Advisory Board, is a graduate of Leadership Bay, and participated in the commissioning of the USS Momsen and the USS Mesa Verde as a member of their respective commissioning teams.
For her endeavors, Ms. Walters has received numerous awards, including the 2000 Member of the Year Award and 2009 Lauren Merriam Memorial Award from the Bay County Chamber of Commerce, the 2001 President’s Award from the Bay Education Foundation, and the 2010 Richard L. McLaughlin Volunteer of the Year Award for the 16 county Northwest Florida region by Florida Economic Development Conference.
